Purchasing Supervisor, San Diego

Job Description Supervises the daily activities of the purchasing function. Reviews purchasing decisions, orders, and vendor contracts. Oversees the ordering of materials and supplies from vendors. Requires a bachelors degree or its equivalent with at least 5 years of experience in government contractor purchasing or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Supervises buyers to ensure timely and accurate completion of work. Typically reports to a manager. - EMPHASIS IN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT:

1) Ensures material is purchased and delivered timely to support production requirements
2) Reviews purchase order files for compliance to company policies and procedures as well as the FAR
3) Manage workloads within department and is responsible to make work assignments
4) Conducts required training with the new buyers and provide refresher training to current staff
5) Monitors and evaluates supplier performance
6) Provide status of assigned work to both program and management
7) Suggest alternative methods and/or ordering process to improve efficiencies and material availability
8) Coordinate daily with Program Managers to understand their requirements and provide material status 1) Review or update supply chain practices in accordance with new or changing environmental policies, standards, regulations, or laws.
2) Diagram supply chain models to help facilitate discussions with customers.
3) Develop material costs forecasts or standard cost lists.
4) Appraise vendor manufacturing ability through on-site visits and measurements.
Required Skills Requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5-7 years experience The successful individual must be able to manage multiple taskings simultaneously and be able to track and report on each task.
