Job Description Responsible for designing, building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, and other items using different types of materials including wood and steel. Study specifications in blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required. Take proper measurement to increase productivity, reduce waste, and ensure the pieces being cut are the proper size. Fasten materials together with nails, screws, staples, and adhesives. Prepare the layout of the project. Estimate height, width, length, and other proportions. Select materials including quantity of materials for procurement. Maintain records, document actions and present written progress reports.

Perform construction activities in support of HEMP project in Thule, GREENLAND.

This position is full-time Summer 2017 (June-September) and Summer 2018 (May-September).
Required Skills -Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain the required clearance. -High School Diploma or equivalent. -8+ years of carpentry experience. -OSHA 30 hour certificate is highly desired. -First-aid/CPR certification. -Respirator certifications/qualifications or ability to obtain -Safety Harness Qualified or ability to obtain certification. -Effective interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills. -Ability to work independently and as a team member. -Ability to understand/interpret construction designs and plans. -Strong knowledge of construction activities/sequences. -Experience with construction tools: levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure structures are level and secure. -Ability to perform demolition activities, including jackhammering/cutting concrete. -Experience mixing and pouring/installing concrete. -Experience removing damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand and electric tools. -Experience installing foam, rigid, batt, and blanket insulation -Ability to cut, hang, mud and finish drywall to industry standards. -Experience with finish work including drywall, framing, and painting. -Ability to mix primers and paints and apply to steel, galvanized materials, concrete and drywall . -Willingness to follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment. -Ability to support client at sites where working conditions may vary. -Ability to travel CONUS/OCONUS (estimated at 50% but can vary) as necessary.

DepartmentThe C4ISR business unit provides a variety of support services related to the maintenance and life cycle sustainment of US Navy, US Coast Guard and Customs and Border Patrol fielded C5I systems. We are focused on the design, systems engineering, project management, procurement, installation, training, testing, and field maintenance of these systems. In addition, our staff provides Hull, Mechanical and Electrical, as well as Weapons Systems design and installation support services, primarily for US Navy vessels. The business unit also provides turn-key solutions and Integrated Life Cycle services in system engineering, enterprise architecture, business process engineering, networks, telecommunications and IT and space system engineering, integration, installation and operations and maintenance for a diverse group of government and commercial customers worldwide.
