Job Description Serco provides comprehensive support for mission-critical communications and IT systems used by military, intelligence and civilian government clients. We are fully capable of providing C4ISR installation services onboard all classes of US Navy ships (Carriers, Surface Ships and Submarines) as well as at shore facilities. Our services also support SPAWAR, NAVSEA, NAVAIR, and NAVFAC throughout the entire C4ISR systems lifecycle – from design and development, through system accreditation, installation and sustainment, to technical refresh.

The Engineering Technician IV works on a team supporting cabling, equipment, and C4ISR system installations. The Engineering Technician IV (ETIV) exercises independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow. Able to use complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment. Analysis of system failures and other unusual system occurrences to isolate the source of the problem and determine whether the failure is caused by software, hardware, or other factors. Run small shore and ship/submarine installations.
The ETIV maintains manual and/or computerized central office records, including detail records, traffic analysis records, cable records, line records, subscriber service records, and spare parts inventories. This position will provide technical guidance and supervision to lower level technicians

Installation experience should include the moving and un-crating of equipment, the installation of electronic equipment, ducts, cableways, cables, high density cable connectors, assembling cable harnesses, soldering with low voltage soldering devices, coaxial connectors, waveguide connectors, fiber connectors, and assembling small mechanical parts per fabrication/assembly drawings. Work typically requires a detailed understanding of the interrelationships of circuits.

Work is performed onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations requiring the ability to work in areas with drafts, noise, and temperature variation. Must be able to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking, lift up to 50 pounds with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40 pounds for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position. Attention to safety critical.
Required Skills -Position requires High School Diploma or equivalent and 8-10 years of experience in AIT Installation experience on US Naval Surface or Submarine Vessels -Applicants must have DoD Secret Clearance or higher -Applicant must be familiar with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electronics repair, fabrication, and installation. -Applicants must have a general understanding of NAVSEA Manual S0400-AD-URM-010/TUM Rev 06 (Tag Out Users) and proficient in NAVSEA WAF (Work Authorization Forms) procedures. -Applicants must have Certification in “Multi-pin” Connectors IAW MIL-STD-20035A(SA), MIL-STD-2042B Fiber Optic, and proficiency in NAVSEA Standards Items to include 009-22 & 009-73. -Applicants also must be willing to work more than 40 hours work weeks. -Applicants must successfully undergo a background investigation and pre-employment drug screen -This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Serco to staff it only with U.S. Citizens -Travel may be required. Applicant must be willing to travel to various work sites such as Virginia Beach VA, Kings Bay GA, Everett WA, Pearl Harbor HI, Mayport FL & Yokosuka Japan. -KITCO certification highly desirable. -Military Veterans and Spouses encouraged to apply.

DepartmentOur services in the Defense business unit support all branches of the U.S. military and the intelligence community. Our teams provide a variety of support services related to the maintenance and life cycle sustainment of US Navy, US Coast Guard and Customs and Border Patrol fielded C5I systems. We are focused on the design, systems engineering, project management, procurement, installation, training, testing, and field maintenance of these systems.
